Map Once, Keep Every Live Course in Sync: Canvas and Brightspace Updates

When a program uses a master course to create each new section, the curriculum work should not have to start over with every copy. HealthTasks now supports master-course workflows for Canvas and Brightspace, helping teams carry curriculum mapping from a master to its linked live courses.

Canvas calls these templates blueprint courses. In Brightspace, they are source courses. Both help institutions prepare a consistent course once and copy it for the students who will take it.

Map the master course once

Import a Canvas blueprint course or Brightspace source course into HealthTasks and connect it to your curriculum map. HealthTasks then finds the associated live copies and applies the same mapping in the background. Educators and administrators do not need to repeat the mapping for each copy.

For deans and program leaders, that means a shared curriculum structure can carry across sections and semesters. For LMS and instructional technology teams, it works with the master-course model already used to create consistent courses in the LMS.

New copies are discovered as they are created

Course rosters change over time. A new semester brings new sections, and those sections may be copied from the same master. A daily discovery sync looks for new live copies linked to the blueprint or source course and reconciles them with the existing mapping.

After the initial import and mapping, teams can avoid repeating that setup each time they create another copy.

Grade sync stays in live courses

The master course helps HealthTasks understand which live courses are related. Grade push and pull happen only in those live courses, where students are enrolled. HealthTasks does not update the master course or change its LMS settings.
