Clinical Logs

The Clinical Logs page is your student list of clinical experience logs—drafts, submissions, and review outcomes in one place.

Overview

Students open Clinical Logs from the sidebar (/clinical-logs). From here you filter and sort logs, open details, edit drafts, submit for review, and resubmit after a rejection.

For how to fill out the log form itself (encounters, skills, times, AI scribe, and more), see Add-Clinical-Logs.

Educators review submitted logs under Review Logs—that queue is separate from this student list.

Statuses

StatusMeaning
DraftSaved but not submitted; you can edit or delete
PendingSubmitted and waiting for preceptor/faculty review
ApprovedAccepted; hours and content count as approved
RejectedReturned with feedback; edit and resubmit
ResubmittedSent back for review after you addressed a rejection

Filter the list by status or classroom when you have many logs. An hours progress summary helps you see approved hours against classroom requirements.

Create and save drafts

  1. Click Add Clinical Log (opens the form at /add-clinical-log).
  2. Complete required fields and at least one patient encounter.
  3. Save as Draft anytime, or Submit Log when ready for review.

Drafts stay editable from the list. Only drafts can be deleted from list actions. You can also duplicate an existing log to start a new draft from prior content.

Open, edit, and submit

  • Click a row to open the log detail / review sheet.
  • Edit is available for drafts and pending logs from list actions when you need changes before or during review.
  • Submit a draft from the form or from list actions when it is complete.

Once approved, you generally cannot edit the log—contact your preceptor or program if something needs correction.

Resubmit after rejection

  1. Open the rejected log and read the feedback.
  2. Choose Edit and resubmit (the form submits as Resubmit Log).
  3. Address the feedback, then submit again.

The log moves to Resubmitted and re-enters the educator review queue. Keep a short note of what you changed if your program expects it.

Tips

  1. Filter by classroom during busy terms so the list stays manageable.
  2. Save drafts after each clinical day; submit when documentation is complete.
  3. After a rejection, fix every noted item before resubmitting to avoid another return.
  4. Watch approved hours progress so you are not short near the end of a rotation.

Troubleshooting

Clinical Logs missing from the sidebar
This list is for students. Educators use Review Logs. Vision-only institutions may not include clinical logs.

Cannot delete a log
Only Draft logs can be deleted from the list. Contact your instructor about other statuses.

Cannot edit an approved log
Approved logs are locked. Ask your preceptor or administrator how your program handles corrections.

Resubmit not available
Open the rejected log’s detail view and use Edit and resubmit. If feedback is unclear, ask your reviewer before changing content.
