Vision Checkoffs (Skills Checkoffs)

Vision checkoffs are video-based skill demonstrations with AI-assisted scoring and educator finalization. In the app the Templates tab is labeled Vision Checkoffs; assignment flows may still say skills checkoffs.

Overview

The end-to-end path is:

1. Admin creates a Vision Checkoffs template under Templates.
2. An educator assigns it from Create Assignments.
3. The student uploads a demonstration video from Assignments.
4. AI analyzes the video against the template steps.
5. An educator reviews, adjusts scores if needed, and finalizes.

Available on plans that include Vision checkoffs (not starter-only setups).

Create a template

1. Open Templates → Vision Checkoffs.
2. Create a template with a clear skill name and description.
3. Choose grading type (satisfactory/unsatisfactory, Likert, or custom) and score type (pass/fail or percentage).
4. Add ordered steps with names and descriptions of what must be demonstrated.
5. Optionally map steps to competencies from a Competency Map.
6. Save.

Write steps in the natural order of the skill and make each step specific enough to evaluate on video.

Assign

1. Open Create Assignments and choose the skills / Vision checkoffs tab.
2. Select one or more templates, a classroom, and students.
3. Set a due date and create the assignments.

Each template × student pair becomes one assignment.

Student submission

From Assignments, the student opens the assignment, reviews the steps, and uploads a video (common formats such as MP4 or MOV).

Recording tips:

• Show your face briefly at the start for identity.
• Use good lighting, clear audio, and landscape framing when possible.
• Keep hands and equipment visible; narrate actions as you go.
• Follow the template step order.

After upload, processing status moves from pending to processing to ready for review. Allow a few minutes for AI analysis on typical videos.

Educator review and finalize

1. Open the submission from Assignments.
2. Watch the video (jump by step timestamps when shown).
3. Review AI scores, evidence, and confidence notes.
4. Override step scores and add educator feedback as needed.
5. Choose whether students see AI feedback, then Finalize.

Finalization locks the grade for the student and reporting. Treat AI as a first pass—always review before you finalize.

Tips

1. Assign with enough lead time for practice and re-recording.
2. Keep step counts manageable so videos stay focused.
3. Review low-confidence AI results carefully; video quality often explains them.
4. Finalize promptly so students get timely feedback.

Troubleshooting

Vision Checkoffs tab missing
Confirm your plan includes Vision checkoffs and that you are an institution administrator.

Upload or processing fails
Check format and file size, use a stable connection, and retry. Contact support if processing stays stuck.

AI scores look wrong
Re-watch with the evidence notes, then override steps before finalizing. Poor lighting or missing narration often reduces AI confidence.
