Program Outcome Templates

Program outcome (PO) templates define program-level learning outcomes and map them to course objectives. Admins manage them under Templates → Program Outcomes.

Overview

Open Templates → Program Outcomes to author PO templates. Select a Course Objectives template so each program outcome can map to the COs that support it. This sits at the top of the curriculum mapping stack.

Author course objectives before you expect PO mapping to work well.

Create a template

  1. Go to Templates → Program Outcomes.
  2. Create a template and give it a clear name (program or catalog year).
  3. Select the Course Objectives template you will map against.
  4. Add program outcomes with a code and description (or import from a spreadsheet).
  5. Save when finished.

Map to course objectives

  1. Open mapping on a program outcome.
  2. Search COs by code or description.
  3. Select the objectives that directly support the outcome.
  4. Prefer intentional alignment (often a focused set of COs) over linking every CO to every PO.

Optional AI-assisted mapping may be available when educator AI is enabled. Review suggestions before you treat them as accreditation-ready.

Tips

  1. Use consistent codes (PO1, PO2, or your catalog convention).
  2. Write measurable outcome language your self-study can defend.
  3. Build and stabilize CO templates first, then map POs.
  4. Revisit mappings after major curriculum or catalog changes.

Troubleshooting

Program Outcomes tab missing
Confirm you are an admin on a plan that includes curriculum mapping (typically Intelligence). Some plans hide this tab.

Cannot map to course objectives
Select a Course Objectives template on the PO template, and confirm that CO template has items.

AI mapping unavailable
Educator AI may be off for your institution, or no CO template is selected. Map manually or contact support.
