Review Logs

Review Logs is where preceptors, faculty, and administrators approve or reject student clinical logs that need attention.

Overview

Open Review Logs from the main navigation. The queue shows only pending and resubmitted logs. Approved and rejected logs leave this list once you finish the review.

Institution administrators can switch between:

  • My Logs — logs assigned to you as preceptor
  • All Logs — every pending or resubmitted log in the institution (with search and sort)

Preceptors and faculty see the logs assigned to them.

Review a log

  1. Click a row or Review.
  2. Read the encounters, skills, times, and notes in the review sheet.
  3. Approve if the log meets your standards, or Reject with required feedback explaining what to fix.
  4. The list refreshes. Rejected students are notified and can edit and resubmit.

Optional feedback on approve is useful for coaching; feedback on reject is required.

Bulk actions

  1. Select logs with the checkboxes (header checkbox selects the visible queue).
  2. Approve selected logs in one step when they all meet the bar.
  3. Reject selected logs by entering shared feedback that every selected student receives.

Use bulk approve for clean submissions; use individual review when the note needs a closer look.

Statuses that appear here

StatusMeaning
PendingSubmitted and waiting for first review
ResubmittedStudent revised after a rejection

After you act, the log becomes approved or rejected and drops out of this queue.

Tips

  1. Review soon after submission so students can correct issues while the shift is fresh.
  2. Write specific rejection feedback (missing skills, unclear notes, wrong times).
  3. Use All Logs search when covering for another preceptor.
  4. Prefer bulk approve only when you have skimmed each selected log.

Troubleshooting

Empty queue
Nothing is pending or resubmitted for your view. Check All Logs if you are an admin covering the institution.

Cannot reject
Add feedback first—rejection requires an explanation for the student.

Student says they were not notified
Confirm the log was rejected (not left pending). Students should also see the log status under Clinical Logs.
